Meet Osei Rubie

Founder and President National Standard Abstract

Osei Rubie is the founder and president of National Standard Abstract (NSA), a full-service title insurance agency with expertise in residential and commercial real estate transactions.

Disrupting the black experience has always been the guiding principle of Rubie, whose family of activists and entrepreneurs instilled in him the importance of representation and upward mobility within the African Diaspora.

Rubie was born in Costa Rica but lived in several countries across the continents of Africa, Europe, and North America with vastly different lifestyles that broadened his perspective. He worked alongside his parents who were serial entrepreneurs with three retail clothing stores; a clothing manufacturing facility for school and military uniforms; restaurant; and the first mass-produced black toy line, Huggy Bean doll. The hands-on experience in sales and business management both domestically and internationally would serve as an apprenticeship and springboard to launch his career.

As an alumnus of Lincoln University, the nation's first degree-granting Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Rubie combined his education and experience, which led to several leadership roles in the real estate industry. While closing on a property, he discovered the importance of title insurance in every residential and commercial transaction that later changed the course of his career.

Since launching in 2015, the family- and black-owned National Standard Abstract has closed over $1 billion in transactions in the State of New York as well as the State of New Jersey. His son, Nadir established the National Standard Resource Center to provide residential & commercial real estate professionals with access to cutting edge industry insight and opportunities for exchanges through continuing education courses. As National Standard Abstract continues to expand its geographic reach beyond the northeast region, new affordable, market-rate and faith-based developments are in the pipeline totaling millions in transactions.

Rubie, a father of four, is an advocate for community and economic development who supports nonprofit organizations focused on career development for Black youth through greater professional exposure and opportunities. The Osei Rubie Charitable Fund was founded as the philanthropic arm of Rubie’s thriving business, which allocates a portion of every project as an investment into the Fund. To date, $100,000 has been awarded in less than a year to fifteen organizations and counting that advance black culture, excellence, and generational wealth.

Osei Rubie, a thirteen-year title insurance industry veteran, is on a mission to elevate people of African descent by strengthening National Standard Abstract’s position of leadership in order to become the premier provider of title insurance nationally within the next five years.

In his leisure time, he enjoys training and martial arts.
