Growing4ward

Who:

Growing4ward is an organization that is disrupting the prison pipeline by creating opportunities for disconnected youth to see beyond their circumstances and experience a world full of possibilities.  

What:

From Manhood Training to college tours, Growing4ward offers a curriculum rooted in the principles of initiative, discipline, expectations, and accountability to transform young boys into brothers and ultimately men of success. Other programs include the King Camp and College Prep Workshop Series. In the past two decades, Growing4ward has become a launchpad for student achievement. Those who were once dismissed as gangbangers or told they would never amount to anything have become graduates. 

Our Impact:

Peer pressure and traumatic experiences are often major deterrents to the pursuit of higher education. The Osei Rubie Charitable Fund and National Standard Abstract invested a combined $8,000 towards the DC Initiative for youth of color to travel to Washington, DC to interact with their peers and legislators from across the nation. As a result of the trip, many participants were inspired by the limitless possibilities that await them and participated in subsequent college tours of Historically Black Colleges and Universities where they later enrolled to further their studies.
